A heartfelt thank you to Chuck Shapiro and Ron Burt and the other volunteers who have worked tirelessly to be sure that the everything is ready for our opening. Crab Shack Reminders

on May 4, 2012 - 9:08pm

For your convenience, we will be selling Crab Shack punch cards in $10 and $20 increments again this year. Please bring correct change to purchase this season's punch card. Remember, punch cards are "use it or lose it" so cards are not retained from year to year.

The Shack operates as self-service and on the honor system - get a snack or a drink, punch your card. Don't forget to punch your card, and if you see someone else forget, please gently remind them! Also, parents, please help your kids get their snacks rather than relying on lifeguards during their hourly breaks.

Peter Riad to be Head Lifeguard

on March 29, 2012 - 3:25pm

From Pres. Susan Kruse: Peter Riad will be returning this summer and will act as our head lifeguard. Adam Gold and Melissa Miller, both long time members of Crabtree, will also be lifeguarding. I intend to meet with the guard staff prior to opening to convey our expectations. If you have feedback that you would like me to pass along in that meeting, please contact me (susankruse@bellsouth.net) by April 15th.   Peter is eager to make this a great summer so the more input from members I receive, the better.

Sign Up for Swim Team!

on February 22, 2012 - 8:24pm

We hope you will consider signing up your child(ren) for participation on the swim team. It is an excellent way for your child to better swim techniques, meet and exceed personal benchmarks for increased self esteem and learn the importance of sportsmanship. Swim meets are exciting and fun and enhance the sense of community.  Children must be a minimum of 4 years old and able to swim the required distance unassisted by the first swim meet (June 12). Practices will begin after the pool opens May 19.  There is an additional fee for team dues that is used to fund coaching salaries.

Trash and recycling reminders:

on July 11, 2011 - 11:22pm

Pour out the contents of cups, cans, bottles, etc as the trash bags become extremely heavy and eventually leak. Pizza boxes cannot be recycled.  Due to the number of pizzas delivered, please do not throw them in the trash unless the top has been torn from the bottom, and each of these has been torn in half, if not quarters. Any large trash items should be placed next to the outside trash cans for placing in the trash cans on Monday evening, as space allows. Do not put food items in the outside trash cans that are not in plastic bags.

Independence Day

on July 11, 2011 - 11:20pm

More than just a day off work, Independence Day is celebrated on July 4 as the day when the Continental Congress adopted the final draft of the Declaration of Independence. From July 8, 1776, until the next month, the document was read publicly and people celebrated whenever they heard it. The next year, in Philadelphia, bells rang and ships fired guns, candles and firecrackers were lighted. But the War of Independence dragged on until 1783, and in that year, Independence Day was made an official holiday. 1941 Congress declared 4th of July a federal holiday.

However you celebrate the holiday,
