Weekly CSC update

on May 25, 2011 - 6:54pm

It was a terrific opening weekend at the pool! The grills were going, the weather was hot and there was lots of action on the volleyball court. We held a brief membership meeting (as required by the bylaws) to kick off the season. Items discussed have also been included in previous email communications. Don’t hesitate to contact me at this email address if you have any questions.  A roster of board members will be posted so you are welcome to give feedback to any of the other board members as well.

CSC Swim Team Practice hours

Until Wake County schools release, we operate on a limited schedule so please check the attached to be sure we are open before heading to the pool. We will be open Friday through Monday for the upcoming Memorial Weekend holiday.

 Crab Shack

We would very much appreciate members purchasing a card for snack purchases this summer. Revenue from punch cards is used to purchase snack items that are sold. In summers past, the sales have not equaled the expense of keeping the shack stocked so it’s important that punch cards are punched for every purchase.   A limited amount of cash will be available to make change for guest purchases.  Please pick up bottled waters and sodas when you see them on sale.   As our membership has grown, demand for ice pops is exceeding supply so please bring pops down and put in the standing freezer as often as you can.  Please help to pass out pops at breaks so that the lifeguards get some down time during time off the stand and remind your children to put wrappers in the trash. Thank you Jeff & Leanna Wiley for being our Crab Shack shopper/managers.

 Event Calendar & Volunteer Opportunities

A master event calendar will be posted on the bulletin board this weekend.  It will list swim meets, water aerobics, rental reservations, etc. There will also be a sign up sheet for hosting social events. We need volunteers to host scheduled events or they will be removed from the calendar.  We would also like volunteers to help with mowing and grounds upkeep, activities coordination and other positions to be posted. Many hands make light work!

 Membership Renewal & Promotion

If you have not already done so, please remit your dues payment immediately. The early bird discount period has ended. Family membership dues are now $500. Please include the renewal application.

Help us grow!  Please invite a friend or guest to the pool for a complimentary visit to check us out. Make sure to give them a membership application to take home for consideration. We need additional members to offset the natural attrition we experience with non-renewing members (aging out of the pool, relocation, etc).  Dues revenue is used to pay for the lifeguard staff, management and maintenance by Pool Professionals, equipment repairs and other club improvements.

 Pool & Trailer Rental

The club is available for private rental for a nominal fee and there is a trailer that can be rented also. There is a notebook in the Crab Shack to reserve the pool and/or trailer.  If reserving the pool for a private function, please see head lifeguard Steve Mitchell when you make the reservation  to ensure that proper staffing is arranged for the event.

 Communications/Website

Special thanks to Marco Pirozzi, Andrea Trowell and Laura Hudson for taking on the task of creating a new website and improving member communications. The current website will be temporarily unavailable while it is under construction. You may visit our blog site for updates during that time at http://crabtreeswimandtennisclub.wordpress.com/  You can also follow CSTC on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/Crabtree-Swim-and-Tennis-Club  Thank you to Andrea Trowell for maintaining these sites.   I understand that many people have experienced difficulty in receiving communications so please  bear with us as we cross reference information from your renewal application with current distribution lists as part of this process.

 Wish List Items

Thanks to the many members who have donated volleyballs, pool noodles, ping pong balls, shower curtains, etc. We are still in need of scissors, first aid supplies, playground balls for four square, toys for the  baby pool, basketballs, charcoal, propane, grill lighters and any other items you feel would enhance your time at the club. As always – ICE POPS!!!!

 Warm Regards,

Susan Kruse

President
